Collaborative Payments Continue to Go Mainstream

By Peter Deitz  •  Posted on September 06, 2007

In August, I reported that the Wall Street Journal ran an article about several group fundraising websites, including FirstGiving and Change.org.

This month brings even bigger news on the rise of collaborative payments as a mainstream philanthropic model. On September 4, 2007, the co-founders of Kiva.org appeared on Oprah Winfrey's daytime television show with former U.S. President Bill Clinton.

Excerpts from the show are available here and here. You can also read Kiva co-founder Matt Flannery's blog entry about the appearance. Lastly, the Chronicle of Philanthropy posted a Give and Take blog entry yesterday about the show.

I would have liked to embed a video excerpt. I couldn't find a clip on YouTube. Instead, below is a Global X video of Matt and Jessica Flannery discussing Kiva. For just Jessica's impression of the Kiva story, you can download an interview she did with Britt Bravo's Big Vision Podcast.
