New Ideas for Raising Money During the Holidays
By Peter Deitz Posted on November 11, 2007
NetSquaredEarlier this month Britt Bravo of NetSquared asked web 2.0 experts to respond to the question, How Can Nonprofits Use the Social Web during the Giving Season?
The question has provoked a variety of responses, ranging from best practices for non-profits using social networks to detailed suggestions on mobilizing an organization's wired fundraisers.
Here are the blog entry responses to Britt's question:
- Holly Ross encourages nonprofits to "amplify their authenticity" instead of their "donate now" button
- Beth Kanter writes about using social media to get supporters to "wear the cause" online
- Allan Benamer shows that for nonprofits "execution is more important than the technology"
- Rich Reader reminds nonprofits to test before implementing
- Katya Andresen suggests that nonprofits reach out at "open minded moments"
- Emily Weinberg concludes her post on the subject with seven suggestions for nonprofits
- Heather Cronk argues for the role of "positive peer preasure"
- Ed Schipul talks about the importance of "link love"
- Julius Huijnk questions the use of "Giving Season"
- Nick Booth tells nonprofits to get their supporters "shopping for the cause"
These are thoughtful and varried responses to a question that most nonprofits should be asking. I would encourage people to take the time to read through the posts.
