I Launched Social Actions this Morning
By Peter Deitz Posted on August 31, 2007
After two months of intense design and programming, I'm ready to open Social Actions to the public.
Please have a look and let me know what you think.
Here's a rundown of some of the features you'll find on Social actions:
- Aggregated group fundraising campaigns from BringLight, ChangingthePresent, Fundable, GiveMeaning, GlobalGiving, and Kiva
- Group fundraising campaigns sorted by theme, location, and platform
- Links for emailing, sharing on facebook, digging, and bookmarking each social action
- A speedy search engine for keyword queries
- An option to 'add to my social actions' any campaign that interests the user
- A forum for discussing person-to-person fundraising
- A job board for posting contracts related to distributed fundraising and/or web 2.0 campaigning
- Articles about how to start group fundraising campaigns
- An introduction to RSSA (really simple social actions)
Here's the email I sent this morning to my friends and colleauges:
Hello Friends,
This is a quick note to thank you for helping me design and build the first-ever web site that aggregates person-to-person fundraising campaigns.
Here's the link:
http://www.socialactions.com
For those of you who provided feedback and moral support during the design process, your comments and encouragement have been extremely helpful. For those of you who took the time to build platform-specific RSS feeds, I cannot thank you enough. The feeds you provided are the source of 100% of Social Actions content.
The next few weeks will see a series of upgrades, including the introduction of RSS feeds from FirstGiving, ChipIn, Change.org, and SixDegrees. With the addition of these feeds and several functionality/design enhancements, I will make a more formal announcement about the launch of Social Actions.
In the meantime, please feel free to blog about, test, and enjoy the new web site.
I look forward to your continued support, feedback, and inspiration.
All the best,
Peter
