5 Things That Change When You Move From The City To The Country

If you’ve lived in the city all of your life and decide to take the plunge to live in the country, it can be a lot to adjust to.  While there are plenty of perks to look forward to, there are also a few things that you may not love.

In order to make sure that you adjust to your move as well as possible, it’s best to be prepared.  Adapting from the hustle and bustle of city life to open fields of green can be a huge change you should look forward to.  Here’s what you can expect.

More Property To Look After

When you live in the city, chances are that you have a small property that is priced much higher for something you’d find in the country.  Many city-dwellers live in a condo or apartment and therefore don’t have much to look after.

However, if you move to the country into a big home, then you’ll have to take care of it.  You may even have to plow fields or tend to barn animals!  Depending on how deep into the country you’re going, you may have a lot more responsibility than you did back in your 800 square foot apartment with a property manager you could call.

Fewer Worries About Crime

When you live in the city, there’s more to worry about in terms of crime.  You have to double-check your car door locks, front door, and keep your eye on your belongings.

However, even though crime exists everywhere, it’s less likely to occur in a smaller town with fewer neighbors around.  Chances are you probably know most of the people in your town and don’t have to worry about a lot of crime.

No More Traffic To Worry About

Rush hour is now a thing of the past.  You can forget having to drive bumper to bumper to drive a few blocks anymore.  You don’t have to time your trip to the grocery store around traffic or drive in circles for a parking lot.  The country means getting where you need to go in a much shorter amount of time.

No More Obstructed Views

In the city, you probably looked out at adjacent buildings and distant buildings.  Unless you were lucky enough to live in a high-rise overlooking the waterfront or a park, chances are you didn’t have much to look at in terms of views.

However, in the country, there’s nothing between you and your view of vast open fields and greenery.

Less Diversity

The city is full of a wide range of cultures and backgrounds.  However, the country tends to be less diverse in terms of race and culture.  If you appreciate being around different kinds of people from around the world, it can be an adjustment in a rural town.
